Cllr Martyn Delaney

Councillor Martyn Delaney was born, raised and educated in Chester and has always lived close to the city centre.

Martyn was first elected in a By Election to represent the residents of the Boughton Ward (the ward in which he was born) in 2014 and was re-elected again to represent them in 2015. He was re-elected yet again in 2019 as one of three councillors to represent the newly formed Chester City & The Garden Quarter.

On leaving school Martyn worked for 34 years at a local building products manufacturer starting as a laboratory technician and finishing his career there as Technical Sales Manager. On leaving this employment Martyn went back into education studying for a degree in Human Geography with Applied Social Science at Chester University. Upon attaining this Martyn then worked for a statutory public corporation inspecting customer facing services within the social housing sector and as an advisor to social landlords on community engagement strategy and policy. Martyn completed his career as a project manager to develop a newly formed private sector organisation within the social housing sector from where he retired in 2017.

Outside of employment Martyn has maintained close connections with community groups in Chester and sits as a trustee with several local charities.
