The Deputy Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Mark Williams

The new Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Mark Williams will share his term of office with his wife Denise.

The couple first met at an old Chester nightclub (Cinderella Rockafella’s) whilst in their teens; Mark was serving in The Royal Air Force at the time and was stationed at RAF Sealand.

A few years later, Mark and Denise married and have been together for 34 years; have two children, a son and a daughter and two wonderful grandchildren – a boy and girl.

Denise, the new Deputy Lady Mayoress, works at The Bishops’ Blue Coat High School where she has been there for the past 18 years.

Mark studied at Bangor University and later at Chester University, and has spent his working life in the design and manufacture of a wide range of military equipment including: submarines, frigates, helicopters and armoured personnel vehicles.

He was originally elected as a Parish Councillor for Huntington in the 1990’s and in 2007 was elected to Chester City Council and has been a service member of Cheshire West and Chester since its formation. Mark is also a service Parish Councillor on Dodleston Parish Council and still sits on Huntington Parish Council.
